Categorized Social Volume Details
Definition
Each Categorized Social Volume metric counts documents from Twitter accounts assigned to one defined category. There are seven categories: BTC Maxi, Builder, KOL, Media, Memecoin, Trader, and Trading Firm.
How Accounts Are Classified
Accounts are classified into categories by an LLM (gpt-5-mini).
As of the current classification run, 18,203 Twitter accounts have been categorized, based on account activity between 2025-03-09 and 2026-03-09.
An account can belong to more than one category at a time.
There are also accounts that don’t belong to any category, whole volume is only reflected in the regular social volume metric.
Classification runs over a relative historical window. We use the last 12 months of data or the last 20 X.com posts for newer accounts. Currently classification is not re-run for already classified accounts; for newly added accounts it runs at the moment we follow the account.
Categories
BTC Maxi
Focuses almost exclusively on Bitcoin, promoting BTC dominance, sound money ideology, and dismissing altcoins or memecoins.
In the metric name, this category is typed as btc_maxi.
Example: social_volume_twitter_btc_maxi.
Builder
A developer or technical contributor actively involved in building or maintaining crypto products or protocols.
In the metric name, this category is typed as builder.
Example: social_volume_twitter_builder.
KOL
An influential individual shaping opinions through strong market views or ideological perspectives. A KOL is defined as an account with 10,000 or more followers.
In the metric name, this category is typed as kol.

Media
Crypto-focused journalism, content creation, and educational channels.
In the metric name, this category is typed as media.
Example: social_volume_twitter_media.
Memecoin
Centers on memecoins, hype-driven narratives, viral trends, and short-term speculation, often using humor and FOMO. A Memecoin account is always dedicated to promoting one specific coin, excluding the majors.

Trader
Focuses on short-term market analysis and trading activity, emphasizing charts, technical setups, and signals.
